Here are some of the ways we have been helping Hyperion users get more value from their investment in the Hyperion Business Intelligence solution.
Improving the Users experience:

We do this by customising the Portal interface to suit the types of users and/or analyses that they want to carry out. It is obviously straightforward to blend HPS into your intranet and adopt the colour styles of your corporate look and feel but we also frequently provide silent authentication. That means that if your users are already logged into your network that they do not need to log-in again to the Hyperion environment.

This might sound simple but it can make a real difference. Dashboards have been deployed very successfully by many organisations because they make complex analysis much easier for users by presenting them with a ‘black boxed’ application that is easy to use and yet very functionally rich.

For those users who have migrated to HPS V8.x it opens up new opportunities to embed new chart types in dashboards so that you can provide some of the views of data that users have come to expect. Charts such as XY Scatter Plots, Speedo Dials and others.

The same HPS feature which allows new chart types to be embedded can also support new functionality being added such as the capability for users to define local rules for Traffic Lighting (RAG status) in KPI reports and embed Mapping capabilities which can be very powerful, visually.

 
Helping Developers become more productive:

We use a JavaScript Function Library when we develop dashboards because it can greatly reduce development time and more importantly it provides a consistent use of JavaScript to more effectively standardise maintenance and enhancement efforts.

The effective management of large numbers of BQY files can become a headache, especially as they creep into the hundreds, which is why we produced a management tool called Documentor©  and which works equally well with HPS, Crystal and BusinessObjects.

   

If you need to manage versions of reports or simply document them for compliance purposes then this will interest you.

Documentor© can process around 250 BQY files in a day which is about 248 more than can be achieved manually. In addition, it is often used for impact analysis, to ensure consistency of computed items across a report suite and for finding reports that have the attributes that you are looking for to quick start a new report.
